PETAR – day 3

Different from what happened to us in the day before, I mean, the situation with the cave visit schedule, we decided to leave the hostel to our 3rd day tour earlier. It was not that early in fact, but we arrived 50 minutes earlier and it was enough to be the first group to visit Cave Ouro Grosso (Thick Gold), and it allowed us to enjoy other attractions the rest of the day.

This cave is another of “Water Caves” category, as the trail was through the river inside it, reaching a another small waterfall, as it was in Cave of Àgua Suja. And this is the only similarity between these caves, as to reach the waterfall in Cave of Ouro Grosso we had to go through some “tiny” wholes, and it changes the dynamic of the trail.

Besides, the formations of this cave are different from the others, demanding us attention during our visit.

Ahhh…and it´s also worth mentioning that the waterfall here was a little bit different, because there was a small well before reaching it.

Apart from geological descriptions, the main point is that this cave was another great surprise.

After visiting it, we went to Cave Alambari. Another amazing experience and completely different from the previous ones – by the way, as you can see, each cave in PETAR is singular and it makes this visit a special tour.

Cave Alambari is a huge cave. Its entrance is big as well as its main “hall”. Here we walked until reach the river bed, which is also peculiar, mainly due to its silence. That´s it, a river flows, however apart from the other rivers we visited inside other caves, this one is quiet indeed.

After this river moment, we went through an “overcome test” as we had to go through a tine whole in order to have the sensation on how to really explore a cave.

And, as to emphasise its uniqueness, here we found a small bat taking a “day nap”.

The last day there was no pictures at all, but we did have the adventure. We went down the river Betarí by rafting on a buoy, a challenge and relaxing tour at the same time and a way to admire the nature in another perspective, unfortunately not available on pictures.
