A capital da Paraíba é João Pessoa, uma cidade litorânea a qual creio que seja das menos visitadas do extenso litoral brasileiro.
João Pessoa é conhecida como a "porta do sol", já que é o ponto mais "oriental" das Américas, onde o sol nasce primeiro no Brasil, localizada na Ponta do Seixas.
Já recebeu o título de segunda cidade mais arborizada do mundo (na ECO-92, perdendo para Paris), é a terceira capital de estado mais antiga do Brasil e já foi até ocupada pelos Holandeses no século XVII, sendo chamada de Frederikstadt naquela época.
Como não poderia ser diferente, a minha relação com cidades praianas é sempre conflitiva. Exatamente no dia em que decido conhecer João Pessoa e até pegar uma praia, amanhece chovendo.
Como o objetivo principal era visitar duas primas – uma do meu pai e outra minha – nem pensei muito na chuva, mas sem dúvida atrapalhou por não permitir fotografar a parte histórica da cidade e nem curtir a praia. Ao final do dia , a chuva deu uma trégua e ao menos algumas imagens consegui registrar.
Sem dúvida, João Pessoa é uma cidade que merece uma nova visita, não apenas para fotografar o Centro Histórico, que apresenta belas igrejas e prédios tombados pelo patrimônio histórico, mas também para "fazer as pazes" com a meteorologia e poder usufruir do litoral desta cidade.

The capital of Paraiba is Joao Pessoa city, a sea side city which I believe is one the less visited among the sea side cities in Brazil.
Joao Pessoa is known as "the city where the sun rises first" as it is the easternmost city of America located in a point called Ponta do Seixas.
It was considered the second greenest city in the world (ECO 92, the first one was Paris), it is the third oldest state capital in Brazil and it was already held by the Dutches during 17th century, being named Frederikstadt at that time.
As it happens most of the time, my relationship with seaside cities are not the most friendly one. On the day I decided to visit Joao Pessoa and enjoy the beaches, it was raining.
As the main objective was visit a cousin of my father and one of mine, I did not care much about the rain, but there is no doubt that it was a problem, mainly because I would like to photograph the historic part of the city. At the end of the day, the rain stopped, the sun “almost” appeared and I got some images.
Joao Pessoa deserver another visit, not only to visit and photograph its historic Centre, with nice churches and buildings protectec as historical heritage, but also to make peace with the weather and enjoy the beaches of this town.
