A casa do Engenheiro Chefe / The House of the Chief Engineer

No alto do morro cuja a vista é a mais privilegiada de Paranapiacaba (quando a neblina permite, é claro!) fica a casa que foi utilizada pelos Engenheiros Chefes que por lá passaram durante o período de construção e operação da estrada de ferro.

O local foi estrategicamente escolhido, pois de lá era possível observar toda a Vila de Paranapiacaba e sua movimentação, uma das atribuições do Engenheiro Chefe da São Paulo Railway naquela época.

A construção do Castelinho, como é conhecida, também foi muito bem pensada nos mínimos detalhes, como a cor dos cômodos (exemplo: na sala de trabalho do Engenheiro Chefe, a cor era verde para trazer concentração. Já na sala de atendimento de empregados, a cor era vermelha o que causa certo desconforto).

De um dos cômodos da casa é possível avistar a cidade de Cubatão, o que não foi possível desta vez com tanta neblina à frente.

At the top of the hill where we have the most privileged view of Paranapiacaba (when the fog allows it, of course!), there is the house which used to be the residence of the men at the position of Chief Engineer, responsible for the construction and operation of the railway.

The location was strategically selected as from it was possible to have a view of the whole Paranapiacaba village and its daily activities, one of the functions of the Chief Engineer of Sao Paulo Railway at that time.

The construction of Castelinho (Little Castle) as the house is known was also very well planned in every single detail (eg. the work room of the Engineer was painted in green as to offers him concentration. On the other side the room for the meetings with the employees was painted in red in order to cause them some discomfort).

From one of the rooms it´s possible to see the town of Cubatao (which is on the sea side), however it was not possible this time due to the intense fog.
