Inhotim é um produto mineiro. Inhotim é uma referência para o mundo!

E não poderia ser diferente. O Inhotim vai além de qualquer concepção artístico-paisagística que temos no Brasil e, creio também, que no mundo, dada a quantidade de citações sobre esse lugar em diversos países.

Inhotim é uma mescla de museu de arte contemporânea com um belíssimo jardim botânico. Fica no município de Brumadinho, cerca de 60km de Belo Horizonte. Idealizado por um empresário apaixonado por arte e natureza, o local é de deixar qualquer visitante embasbacado.

Se você gosta de arte contemporânea, entenda “pirações” conceituais e artísticas, Inhotim é o seu lugar. Visitar suas dezessete galerias é uma incursão a um mundo paralelo, onde as idéias são livres, inovadoras e intrigantes e onde a formalidade inexiste. Um alimento para o senso criativo de qualquer pessoa (exemplos são a galeria Doug Aitken e seu “Sonic Pavillion” que capta os sons da terra a uma profundidade de 202 metros, ou as incríveis fotografias de Miguel Rio Branco).

Digamos que arte contemporânea não seja o foco da visita e que você prefira estar ao ar livre em contato com a natureza. O Inhotim também é feito para esses visitantes. São mais de 700 ha de área total, sendo 440 ha de área preservada e cerca de 100 ha de área para visitação, o que significa muito, mas muito verde para você apreciar e relaxar.

Acredita-se que o Inhotim possua a maior coleção mundial de palmeiras (cerca de 1500 espécies/híbridos/variedades) e mais de 180 famílias botânicas no total.

A organização do local também é de impressionar. Além de oferecer excelente infra-estrutura (lanchonete, restaurantes, fraldário, transporte interno com veiculos elétricos), a atenção e simpatia com que cada funcionário trata o visitante é algo digno de citação.

O “senão” fica por conta da infraestrutura da estrada para se chegar ao local, que além de estar em mal estado de conservação ainda não é bem sinalizada, coisas de Brasil! Mas que isso não seja um impediditivo para você conhecer esse santuário das artes e da natureza.

Essa foi minha segunda visita ao Inhotim. A primeira foi em 2006 quando abriram o local à visitação. Cinco anos depois, lá voltei e me impressionei novamente.

And it could not be different. Inhotim goes beyond any artistic-landscaping concept in Brazil and in the World I believe, due to so many quotations about it in a great variety of countries.

Inhotim is a mix of a Museum of Contemporary Art and a wonderful Botanical Garden. It is located in Brumadinho, a town 60 km far from Belo Horizonte. Idealised by an entrepreneur passionate about art and nature, this place amazes any visitor.

If you like Contemporary Art, which means non-formal conceptual and artistical insights and expressions, Inhotim is the place for you. Visiting its 17 galleries is a journey to a new world where the ideas are free, innovatives and intriguing and where there is no formal rules. A perfect place for those who seek some “food to one criative sense” (and good examples are Doug Aitken gallery and his “Sonic Pavillion” capturing the sounds of Earth from 202 meters deep down or the amazing pictures by Miguel Rio Branco).

Let´s say, on the other hand, that art is not what motivates you to visit a place. You prefer a contact with nature instead of being inside galleries.Inhotim is the place for you too. It is 700 ha of total area, with 440 ha of them preserved and almost 100 ha available for visitation. It means great contact with nature and nice places to relax.

Inhotim exhibits what is considered to be the biggest palm tree collection in the world with about 1,500 species/hybrids/varieties and more than 180 botanical families.

The organization of the place is also something to be amazed about, not only due to infrastructure (restaurants, baby comfort station, guided tours, non polluting internal transportation), but also the cordiality with which the employees treat the visitors is something that deserves to be mentioned. 

The drawback is the road infrastructure to get there, which is not in a good conservation and not well signalled… Brazilian way! But that´s not a reason to avoid getting in touch with this sanctuary of Art and Nature.

This was my second visit to Inhotim. The first one was in 2006 when they had just opened to the public visitation. Now, five years later I´m amazed again.
